Mwangaza Bring Life Academy — A Village School in Kenya
Mwangaza Bring Life Academy is an active Christian school of Bring Life Mission in the village of Maboromokoni, Kenya. Here, children have the opportunity to study close to home, grow in a safer environment, and receive support that would otherwise be out of reach for many families.
How the school began
Bring Life Mission first connected with the village of Maboromokoni in 2018, when we began serving there through the local church, P.E.F.A. (Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa), and organizing children’s camps.
Over time, local residents kept sharing the same concern: many children had no school nearby. The nearest primary school was several kilometers away, and for many families this created a serious barrier to education. Not every parent was able to send their children that far each day, which meant that some children were effectively left without proper access to learning.
In 2021, it became clear that Maboromokoni needed its own school. The local church had land that they planned to dedicate for this purpose, and we began construction.
By June, the first two classrooms made of wood and iron were completed. Children who had previously been studying in other villages immediately began transferring to the new school. That was the beginning of Mwangaza Bring Life Academy.
How the school grew
From the very beginning, our vision was not simply to open a temporary learning space, but to build a full school step by step — one that could grow together with the children and serve the whole village for years to come.
In 2022, a third classroom was built, this time as a permanent block structure that was more spacious, durable, and suitable for learning.
In 2023, we were able to add a fourth block classroom. As the buildings expanded, the school itself continued to grow: enrollment increased, teaching capacity grew, and it became clear that this project was truly needed in the village.
The situation today
Today, Mwangaza Bring Life Academy serves around 200 children between the ages of 4 and 10. The school is growing faster than the current infrastructure can support, and the four existing classroom buildings are no longer enough.
Although there are only 4 physical classrooms on the school grounds, they are now being used for 6 learning groups. Some rooms have been divided with partitions so children of different age groups can study separately. Next year, the school is expected to grow to 7 classes, which makes the need for additional classrooms especially urgent.
What is needed now
One of the school’s biggest priorities today is building at least 3 more classrooms so children can learn in safe and appropriate conditions.
It is also critically important to replace the current toilet, which has badly deteriorated and is no longer safe for children to use.
In addition, the school needs a kitchen and dining area. At this time, meals are not provided at the school, so this infrastructure is an important next step toward creating more stable and dignified conditions for the children.
In 2024, a clean water well was drilled on the school property, which was a major step forward for the school. However, the pump is now broken, and the well needs repair so that students and staff can once again have reliable access to water.
Why this matters
For many families, Mwangaza Bring Life Academy is more than just a nearby school. It is a real opportunity for their children to receive an education, experience care and stability, and grow in a more secure environment.
Through this school, Bring Life Mission serves the village not only in practical ways, but also spiritually — showing the love of Christ through real care for children, faithfulness to families, and long-term investment in the future of the community.
We believe that strengthening this school is not only about helping children learn today. It is also about shaping the future of the entire village.
How you can help
Today, the development of Mwangaza Bring Life Academy requires the following next steps:
- build 3 new classrooms;
- replace the unsafe toilet;
- build a kitchen and dining area;
- repair the pump for the school well;
- continue improving the school’s infrastructure.
By supporting this school, you help children in Maboromokoni study in safer, more dignified, and more sustainable conditions.
