Art and English Classes for Children in Kenya

We help children from the Furunzi slums and the village of Mwangaza discover their talents, explore the world and learn English — so every child gets a chance at a better future.

About the project

Every child has a hidden talent

Every child has unique talents, and our goal is to discover and develop them. In the children from the Furunzi slums and the village of Mwangaza there is great potential they do not even realize.

Through creativity, exploring the world and the English language, we help the children believe in themselves and discover possibilities they never dreamed of.

How the classes work

Creativity, the world around us and English

Art classes

We regularly hold art classes where children try themselves as artists and sculptors. We paint with gouache, sculpt with plasticine, cut, glue and make origami, and more.

This gives our team the chance to spot a child's gifts and guide them.

Exploring the world by themes

Alongside creativity, the children explore the world around them. Each lesson covers a theme: animals, home, family, vegetables, fruits, hygiene and much more.

That makes the classes not only fun, but truly useful for the children's development.

The English language

The children explore the world and create — and they also learn English. In Kenya it is an official language, and knowing it gives a competitive advantage in finding work.

Wanting to give children a better future, we focus our lessons on memorizing and using new English words.

We see progress

At the age of 5–10, children pick up languages especially fast, and after just a few years of the project the progress is clear.

Why it matters

Small steps to a big future

For a child from a poor family, the chance to create and learn is a chance to change their life.

A discovered talent, a knowledge of English and self-belief open doors that would otherwise stay closed. We see children change in just a few years — and we want there to be more and more such stories.
