Family Ministry in Kenya

We visit families in need, pray with them, and meet real needs — bringing groceries and mattresses to people who sleep on a bare floor.

About the ministry

Present with families — in word, prayer, and action

Our family ministry began in 2013, when Dzianis Laptseikin first came to Kenya and started visiting people in their homes — getting to know them, praying with them, and, whenever possible, meeting their material needs, from food and clothing to beds and mattresses.

Later, when the ministry at the school in the Furunzi district began, the team started visiting the families of our students on a regular basis. As the mission grew and visitors began to come, this outreach took on a permanent, ongoing character.

When a first visit reveals that children are sleeping on the floor or that a family is living in extreme poverty, the team meets right away to plan the next steps and find a way to help.

How it grew

From personal visits to a year-round program

2013 — the first visits

Dzianis began stepping into the homes of local families, listening to their stories, and praying for them. The help was simple and concrete: groceries, clothing, mattresses, and other essentials a family cannot get through daily life without.

Families of our students in Furunzi

Serving in the school opened our eyes to the home conditions of our students. Visiting their families became part of caring for each child: the team meets the parents, prays with them, encourages them, and learns what support is truly needed.

Teams, villages, and well dedications

When visitors come to the mission, we plan home visits together and hand out grocery packages. During the opening of a new water well, the team also walks through the homes of the region, shares the Gospel, prays, and blesses families with maize flour and other food.

We bring mattresses to families where parents and children sleep directly on the floor or in especially hard conditions.

Prayer

We listen to people, pray for them, encourage them, and share the hope and love of Jesus Christ.

We return to the same families, assess new needs, and plan further help together with the team.

A real story

A mother and her six children

In October 2024, our team visited a large family. After heavy rains, their old mud-walled home had collapsed, and eight people were crowded into one small room. The family often went without enough to eat, and the children had nowhere proper to sleep.

We were able to bring a bed, a mattress, and groceries — and to see the smiles of children who will no longer sleep on the floor.

For us, this is never a one-time photo. We come back, we keep the relationship going, and we do our best to stay close to the family in the months that follow.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does the team choose which families to help?

We visit the families of our school students, families recommended by local coordinators, and people living in the regions where the mission serves. Decisions are made after meeting the family in person and assessing their living conditions.

What is included in the $60 of help?

$15 goes toward a grocery package, $40 toward a mattress, and about $5 toward transportation and delivery to the family.

Can I give toward groceries only?

Yes. A $15 gift covers one basic grocery package. You can also choose any other amount.

Why do you pray during your visits?

Bring Life Mission is a Christian ministry. We want to do more than meet a material need — we want to listen to each person, encourage them, pray with them, and share the love of Jesus Christ.

How often do the visits happen?

On an ongoing basis, the team visits up to seven families each month. Almost every month, mission teams come to visit, and together we reach about twenty more families.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
