In the remote village of Mlima Abu, about 100 houses and 100 families live far from civilization without access to water. The government relocated them here because their previous homes were constantly flooded.
Now, families are starting their lives over. Even to build simple clay houses, they need water—something they do not have. As a result, homes often look like makeshift shelters: structures made of branches and covered with pieces of fabric.
Every family has children growing up in these harsh conditions. Despite this, residents are incredibly friendly and welcoming, genuinely happy to see visitors. They even try to “bless” guests—taking a sip of water and sprinkling it on their feet—although water is scarce for them as well.
Moved by what they see, the team plans to act: in March, a 13th well will be drilled in this settlement.
