Youth ministry in Kenya is gaining momentum: a team hosted a two-day training for teenage girls at «Uzima» School (meaning «life» in Swahili).
More than 40 girls aged 10 to 18 learned about their identity in Christ, and also discussed God’s purpose and calling for their lives. The sessions covered topics that are often difficult for teens to talk about—such as changes in the body during puberty, hygiene, and ideas about marriage and dating through the lens of what God teaches.
The organizers note that these conversations are frequently awkward to bring up with parents, and that in many cases mothers may not have enough knowledge to guide their daughters—because they themselves have not received such instruction.
According to the post, teachers who also participate in the trainings are asking the team to return and run the program for the remaining children at the school, which encourages the ministry to continue serving.
The message also explains that the program is supported with learning materials, transportation arrangements, and provisions for training logistics, including small refreshments during the sessions; at the end of each training, participants receive branded bracelets and reusable pads.
