Recently, the Bring Life Mission team visited a juvenile detention center. The teenagers there have committed crimes and are awaiting court decisions. In the post, the offenses mentioned include theft, murder, sexual assault, and other wrongdoing.
Some of the boys were able to spend time with the team in the common area, but 13 boys remained locked inside because they were considered especially aggressive. For them, the team prayed through the walls and doors.
The team brought the kids practical care items—soap, lotion, cookies, and milk—then began sharing testimonies about God and how He is working in their own lives. That’s when, according to the post, something powerful began to happen.
The teenagers started praying for the boys who were locked in. Some placed their hands on the walls behind which the boys were being held and prayed for them. The team says they felt deep compassion that brought them to tears.
Betty, a staff member at the center, told the teenagers, “If you want to receive Jesus into your heart, take my hand.” Several boys reached out and held her hand. The rest of the team laid hands on them, and Betty led them in a prayer of repentance.
The authors describe God’s presence as so strong that they could feel the Holy Spirit ministering to everyone present. They also shared the verse Ephesians 1:5 (NIV): “He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ…”
In closing, the team emphasized that walls, locked doors, and a person’s past cannot stop God when He wants to reach a heart.
