Work is underway at Roka Primary School in Kenya to drill the 22nd well, bringing reliable water access to students and nearby communities.
Every day, 1,070 students attend this school. Until now, the only source of water for the school was a tank that collected rainwater.
As rainy season in Kenya lasts only about 3 months out of 12, the rest of the year is marked by drought. Because of this, the tank simply could not meet the needs of a thousand children, and people in nearby villages also suffered from water shortages.
Very soon, their lives will become easier, as a well with clean, free water will be available. Throughout the month, the team has been drilling while also building the above-ground structure.
The organizers are looking forward to sharing the celebration marking the official opening.
